What should dancers wear to Nutcracker in Wonderland Auditions?

Accepted Answer

Please wear black, tight-fitting, athletic clothing with dancer’s hair pulled out of their face and appropriate dance shoes.

Does every dancer who auditions get a chance to dance in the show?

Yes! Every dancer who auditions will be in the show!

When are the performances?

Performances of our 2026 Nutcracker in Wonderland will take place on December 13, 2026 at Mandeville Auditorium, 9390 Mandeville Lane. Times TBD

Question 4

Do dancers have to wear pointe shoes?

Accepted Answer

Only if they are interested in a role en pointe! If they are interested in a pointe role, they must wear their pointe shoes and participate in the Pointe Audition!

Are there any audition requirements?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the only audition requirement is that the dancer is enrolled in at least one class (of any style) at Danceworks.

When are rehearsals?

Rehearsals take place on Saturday afternoons (August 30-December 6, no rehearsals Saturday, November 29) at the studio between 1:00 and 6:00pm. Specific time slots to be determined.

What styles are done during the audition?

Ages 6 - 8: Ballet, Character, Tricks
Ages 9 - 11: Ballet, Tap, Character, Tricks
Ages 12 & Up: Ballet, Modern, Contemporary with an optional Pointe Audition
