Josie Murphy

Dance Instructor

Josie Murphy has been dancing at San Diego Danceworks since the age of two, where she found her love of ballet very young. She has received her training from Barbara Rinaldo, Sasha Gutman, and Katie Ryan, all of whom emphasize a strong foundation in artistry. Performing in many years’ worth of San Diego Danceworks’ productions, she has most notably embodied Swanhilda from Coppélia (2024), Clara Valle (2019) and the Sugarplum Fairy (2024) from The Nutcracker, and soon, the Snow Queen from the studio’s original production, Nutcracker in Wonderland. Her philosophy is a culmination of teaching the details of ballet, as well as the beauty that comes from the unique nature of each dancer’s movement. Miss Josie feels very lucky to teach ballet and pointe at the studio that she loves so dearly!
