FAQ’s

What should I wear to audition?

6 - 8 yrs. and 9-11 yrs. Leotard and tights any color or leggings and a tight fitting tank top; ballet slippers, hair pulled back off the face, ballet slippers, tap shoes if you are interested in Fritza

12 and up: Leotard (any color) and pink tights.  Skirts are optional. Hair should be neatly pulled back off the face and in a bun.  Ballet shoes. Pointe shoes if you are interested in a pointe role.

Am I guaranteed a part in the production?

Yes, everyone who auditions will be placed into an ensemble and/or solo role.

When are rehearsals at San Diego Danceworks?

Start Saturday, August 30. Specific rehearsal times for the cast is TBD. Attending these rehearsals are very important. We understand emergencies happen or events have been planned in advance- please let us know in when you know in advance if your dancer will be absent by emailing the office. Dancers may not miss more than 3 rehearsal weekends. Weekly videos of the choreography will be available to study. A private lesson may be necessary to catch up.

When is Dress Rehearsal at San Diego Danceworks?

Saturday, December 6 from 1 - 7 pm

 

How much will it cost?

Production Fee - There is a $215.00 production fee per family which includes 2 tickets to one of the performances, as well as digital access to the video of the performances. These fees cover production costs such as rental of the theatre and production personnel, and staff at the studio helping to produce the production. 

Class Rehearsal Fee - There is also a $25.00 per dancer class rehearsal fee that is added to your account for the three rehearsal months of (September, October, and November). This fee will cover rehearsal fees which includes choreography and coaching costs.

Costumes - Most costumes worn in the production will be from the SDDW supply. There will be a $15.00 dry cleaning fee for these pieces on top of the total production cost. There may also be an additional costume fee of around $50 - $100 per costume for some dances, which is TBD.

Do I have to be enrolled in classes at SDDW?

Yes. Dancers participating in the production must be enrolled in one class a week at San Diego Danceworks.
