Welcome Back!

2011 is here and we are excited to be back.

We have new classes for January 2011.  See the list of classes below.  Help us spread the word about San Diego Danceworks by bringing a friend to the studio.  If they sign up for a month of classes and pay the registration fee you will receive $25.00 off your next month’s tuition.  Now is the time to join to be a part of San Diego Danceworks recital.

Location of the 2011 Annual Recital Production of Peter Pan is:

Performance is  Sunday August 7th Dress Rehearsal is Saturday August 6th

Costume and recital fee of $100.00 is due by February 1st. Recital fee includes two tickets to the recital.

New Classes for 2011

Mon. 4:00 – 5:30 pm Advanced Hip Hop Ages 9 – 13 years. Students will learn more advanced hip hop moves and choreography.  Two years of dance experience required or trial class for placement.

Saturday 11:30 – 12:30 am Beginning Hip Hop for Ages 10 – adult.  A fun introduction to the hip hop style.  Hip Hop dance develops rhythm, coordination, and fitness while giving the student the chance to express themselves.

Wed. 4:00 – 5:00 pm  6 – 8 years Beginning Hip Hop An introduction to the hip hop style.  Dancers develop rhythm, coordination, and self expression.

Wednesday 5:00 – 6:00 pm  9 – 13 years Level 1 Hip Hop For dancers with one year of dance experience or trial class for placement.

Monday 5:30 – 6:30 pm Creative Stages Improvisation/Choreography Class for Ages 10 – 15 years.  Students must be enrolled in two technique classes at San Diego Danceworks (one technique class must be modern or ballet)  to participate.  Students will be guided through improvisation that will then be used to create choreography.  Drawing and writing will also be incorporated to bring out the expressive qualities of the dancers.  The choreography will be presented in the summer production of Peter Pan and at the Celebrate Dance Festival in August.

Wednesday 4:30 – 5:30 pm Ballet/Creative for ages 6 – 8 years An introduction to the principles and steps of ballet.  Creative movement gives the students the opportunity to develop confidence in their unique expressive abilities while mastering the ballet technique.
