Audition Day FAQ

1

What is Company?

Company is the competition team here at Danceworks.  Company dancers receive multiple performance opportunities each season and build lasting friendships with their teammates along the way.

2

Who can audition?

Any dancers ages 5-18 by January 1st, 2023.

3

What is the time commitment for dance company?

Dancers can choose to be very involved with Company, enrolling in multiple routines, or light participation with 1-2 routines.  All Company members take 3 hours of weekly technique classes in addition to their rehearsal hour(s).  Optional solos, duos, trios would require more commitment.

4

What is the cost?

Cost varies depending on how many routines your dancer chooses to participate in. Group routines are typically $60 per routine, per competition.  There is a one-time admin fee of approximately $255.

5

What happens at auditions?

We keep our auditions friendly and supportive.  Dancers will be taught short combinations and asked to perform what they learn in front of the audition judges.  Auditions are closed to spectators.
We ask that parents stay at/nearby the studio during the audition for dancers 11 and under.

A Note from the Company Admin Team

Joining Dance Company is exciting and allows dancers to take their training to the next level.  As with any sport, it is also a time commitment that should be carefully considered.  We recommend that any dancer interested in Dance Company attend auditions. At best they make Company. If that doesn’t happen, they at least know what to expect from auditions and what they can work on to pursue Dance Company in the future. An agreement will be emailed upon making Company, and dancers can choose to commit to the team or not at that point.
