COPPÉLIA’S TOY SHOPPE

San Diego Danceworks and E v O L v E collaborate to present the original fall dance production of Coppélia’s Toy Shoppe.

The Story

The classical tale of Coppélia is the story of an eccentric doll maker that keeps his store locked up. The curiosity of the townspeople is captured by the one doll they see sitting in the window of the Toy Shoppe. They become so curious about the mysterious Dr. Coppelius and the doll in the window that they sneak in one night.

Be Involved

What an amazing opportunity to be a part of an original dance production with ballet, modern, tap, jazz, and hip-hop. All students participating in the production must enroll in one hour of technique class of their choice and a rehearsal time. There are three ways to be involved in the production.

San Diego Danceworks in Coppélia’s Toy Shoppe

Work with San Diego Danceworks’ Director, Barbara Rinaldo, to create ballet and modern pieces for the show.

E v O L v E in Coppélia’s Toy Shoppe

E v O L v E is a student-directed program where students will work with E v O L v E’s Director, Brittany White, to choreograph their own jazz, tap, and hip-hop pieces for the show. Through individual sessions and group work, students will learn to put movement to music through guidance, video study, and continuous feedback. Students will also learn how to manage a show and take on management roles to ensure the show’s success.

Duration: Wednesday, September 3 – Wednesday, December 10.
Performance: 7:00 PM Friday, December 12

7:00 PM Saturday, December 13

E v O L v E’s Rehearsal in jazz, hip-hop and tap
